The International Studio & Curatorial Program's Open Weekends are organized twice a year to give the public, arts enthusiasts, and arts professionals access to ISCP's community of artists and curators in residence from around the world. Free to the public, the Open Weekend presents recent artwork and projects by artists and curators from twenty countries working in the program's 26 studios. The current artists and curators in residence represent a wide range of conceptual interests amd aesthetic concerns, covering the mediums of painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, performance, video, film, new media, and architecture.
Founded in 1994, ISCP has hosted more than 500 artists and curators whose participation at ISCP has launched many careers, while contributing substantially to the diversity of New York City's international arts community. ISCP's approach to programming is focused on connecting its artists and curators with local institutions and independent practicioners, while introducing local audiences to contemporary art practice from all over the world. The contacts made between artists, curators, and critics generate a range of outcome - gallery representation, inclusion in major museum exhibitions, and critical dialogue to name a few - with the ultimate goal of promoting awareness of the diversity of global artistic practice.
