Dzul Dance fuses dance with aerial arts as a means to create dialogue between contemporary art and historical heritage. In his newest work Artistic Director Javier Dzul draws on Mayan mythology and socio-political revolutions to explore the possibility of art to change our moral landscape. Dzul Dance kicks off the theater’s 20th anniversary Fall Season on September 12 and 13 at 8pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at 899 Tenth Avenue.
The choreography is performed by Javier Dzul and guest aerialist Chelsea Bacon along with his company of dancers/aerialists Ivanova Aguilar, Ji-Hyun Bang, Cornelius Brown, Robin Taylor Dzul, Blake Faulds, Jason Jordan, Nicole Lichau and Tomotaka Okada. Collaborators include Guatemalan composer Sergio Reyes and sound/image artist Jacob Robinette. Lighting design by Stephen Petrilli and costume design by Javier Dzul.

• Calpulli - Search for Interns for the latter half of 2008
Calpulli is leasing a shared office space with The Field at 161 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. More information about office hours is coming soon. At this time, we are offering unpaid internship opportunities for the late summer/ early fall of 2008 for one or two individuals. Interns will gain experience with an emergent dance company focusing on marketing, fundraising, arts education, and project management with the organization. Interns will be asked to contribute at least 15 hours per week on a flexible, pre-determined schedule. We are looking for proactive, driven individuals who seek to gain as much as contribute from this experience. Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a big plus and proficient knowledge of PC and office software is also very important.
