Paso del Nortec, This is Tijuana!

El Paso de Nortec (The Nortec Pass) is a 240-page book-collage written by José Manuel Valenzuela describing the history of the Tijuana-based music movement known as Nortec - defining it as a musical genre, as a graphic and visual style, and as the manifestation of a particular culture. In the book, images accompany sounds to create an integral concept. The texts tracing the movement’s history and development appear alongside a wide selection of images including photographs (many of which are digitally manipulated), reproduction of flyers and posters, scenes from raves, album covers which are enriched by the testimonies of the movement’s artists and opinions on it from the international community.
